Hawaii’s 19 year old John John Florence has won the 2011 ASP PRIME Vans World Cup of Surfing at Sunset Beach to take the Triple Crown lead from Taj Burrow. Proving he is a versatile competitor and one of the leaders of progressive surfing in both big and small waves, Florence read the 6′ – 8′ Sunset lineup perfectly, displaying some incredible surfing. This is a great win as he continues to consolidate his reputation and chip away at his ASP Men’s World Ranking. He is currently ranked 19th going into Pipeline.
