GS launch in Canada

Hello to all in the Canada Group! It’s great to be here on gaysurfers.net and of course in Canada. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Daniel and I live in beautiful Victoria, BC. I’m a twenty-four year old self trained electronics designer, auto technician, musician, and of course surfer! And yes, I’m gay, for the record.

I started surfing in July of 2011 and needless to say I’m hooked. I must be one of the least experienced surfers to be a group admin on gaysurfers.net but also extremely enthusiastic; I think about surfing every day. I’m elated to be part of this surfing network and no less than thrilled to be a group admin. I only hope I can live up to the title!

I look forward to seeing what we can do here with the gay surfing community. There must be a ton of us around but, alas, I don’t think many are aware of our wonderful web resource and the people to go along with it. I hope the future brings many new friendships and wonderful surfing experiences!

I’ll be trying to add useful information about surf spots, places to go, people to meet, and sights to see as time permits. I also would like to plan an event for us to get together in the very near future. It would be wonderful to see how many attend. I’m undecided about whether to make this event a proper surf trip or just a meeting as the surf spots are limited at least on the west coast and take some travel time to get to. It takes me 3.5 hours on a good day to get to Tofino where I like to surf. I’m highly open to suggestions on this matter so we can coordinate something so as to make it accessible to the greatest number of people.

I ask that everyone please send me any questions, suggestions, information, or just a friendly hello in the group. Let’s see what we can do to make surfing for gay men and women in Canada a real hit!

Sincerely,

Daniel (aka. W1ngs)

  1. Nice a board design, too. Yay!

Lived in Canada for some 5 of my best years, Manitoulin Island, Ontario, and later up in the Yukon territory. First place I’ve actually seen two men kissing was Toronto in 1993. I felt like having found the isle of freedom.

Never seen anyone (wind)surfing around South Baymouth though.

I wasn’t allowed to immigrate, but Canada will be the country of my heart 4ever!

    Hang loose!
